The New England Wireless and Steam Museum

This engine girder frame mill engine was built by the Fitchburg Steam Engine Company in Fitchburg, MA. It has a 14 1/2" bore, a 28" stroke and produces 150 HP at 150 RPM. It has cam actuated admission valve gear, and directly actuated exhaust valves. The admission and exhaust valves are actuated by seperate eccentrics and controlled by a shaft governor. The piston valves can easily be expanded to compensate for wear.

It was installed in the Noone Textile Mill in Peterboro, NH in 1905 and used to make woolen products. It was donated to the museum by the Noone family in 1970. The gift was arranged by Richard A. Day Jr. The engine was rigged out of Peterboro, NH by Gib Conover, Roger Dowdell, and Robert Merriam.
